La Mata Beach is the longest beach in Torrevieja and is surrounded by urbanizations. It is close to the Molino del Agua Park. The small Museum of the Sea and Salt houses exhibitions on the town's fishing and salt history. Inland, the Lagunas de La Mata-Torrevieja Natural Park has hiking trails and two salt lagoons, one pink and the other green. The distance to the extensive beach of Guardamar del Segura is approximately 10 km.
"Climate"
Torrevieja has a warm Mediterranean climate, which is influenced by the Mediterranean Sea. As in the rest of the region, the summers are warm and dry, the winters are very mild and also quite dry. This is due to its location between mountains and the Mediterranean Sea. This makes Torrevieja a popular holiday destination for sun seekers and winter visitors.
